Bolberry Down nr Malborough

As well as being a wonderful walk for all ages and abilities due to the flat terrain Bolberry Down is a fabulous place to fly a kite!

There are a network of paths that all give great views and there is one for everyone - short or long, with Hope Cove to the West and Soar Mill Cove a short walk to the East. The cliff top paths provide outstanding views out to sea whatever the weather.

Nature lovers will adore it for the heath land is covered in wildflowers and migrant birds gather here in preparation for the journeys south. Skylarks can often be heard here as well as the rare Dartford Warbler and Cirl Buntings which like to hide in the scrub.

There are plenty of benches and a particularly nice viewing point and resting areas called Saltern Pike and Fernyhole Point. On a clear day you can see the Eddystone Lighthouse or even Rame Head in Cornwall.

Another interesting thing to look out for are the upright stones which act like a hedge, these are boundary stones from the Bronze Age and are known as Mica Schist.

Amazing coastal views, cliff path walking and dog lovers.

Look out for

Flying a kite on a gusty day - beginners watch those cliffs!! Livestock, cattle, ponies and sheep! Please keep dogs under control.

It's a fact !

In the 2nd World War it was used as an RAF station and a disused runway can still be seen alongside the old concrete buildings.
