Take a look at recent reviews for the Ashburton Arms and you’ll understand why people keep coming back.
Only last week Jessica wrote, ‘The food was amazing and the staff were brilliant. I would like to say a massive thank you … my granddad had a great evening for his 80th.’
That says it all, really ...
Ray Ashby and his team have a long and well-deserved reputation for their friendliness, and for their superb home-cooked pub grub. Ray even goes out of his way to cater for special diets: ‘Lovely friendly place and great food. Also catered for a gluten free roast which very few places do,’ says Lee. 'We also feature a number of vegetarian options on our menu and are happy to adapt any dish on request,' Ray adds.
Located in West Charleton along the scenic route from Kingsbridge to Dartmouth, SouthHams.com member, the Ashburton Arms has also received commendations for its steak and kidney pie, traditional fish and chips and sticky toffee pud. But it’s Ray’s signature steak on the rocks dish that really gets folks talking.
What is a steak on the rocks? Well, a volcanic rock slab is pre-heated to 350C and brought to your table along with your steak and accompaniments. You then cook the steak yourself exactly how you like it. To make a booking, you can ring the Ashburton Arms on 01548 531242.
