Coastal Concierge are here to take the hassle out of your holiday home

Whether you have a second home, a holiday home to rent or are just looking for a bespoke itinerary for your South Hams break, Coastal Concierge is the company you need.
Run by Mark and Jolly Oldfield for the last three years, Coastal Concierge is all about providing a personal, bespoke and hands-on service to take all the hassle out of running your holiday home or planning your staycation.
“We want to show off what we love about the South Hams to everyone”, Jolly said, “For a lot of people who came down last summer - in those few months we weren’t in lockdown - it was their first time staying in the area, or it was their first time since they were children. So many commented to say that when we have the weather, why would you bother going anywhere else?”
Mark and Jolly met while they were living in the home counties, “commuting, corporate jobs, you know, boring”, said Mark, and they couldn’t find anywhere they could buy in London, so they decided to move further afield. While they were discussing commuting, they decided that if they were going to be travelling a lot anyway, they may as well move to somewhere they really loved.
“We used to come down here when we were kids”, Mark said, “and the area worked its magic on Jolly too, so we moved and now have our two young children here too!” They started Coastal Concierge, Mark quit his job 18 months ago and they haven’t looked back.
Mark explained that there are three arms of the business. One is holiday home property management, one is looking after second homes for their owners and the last being a “hotel concierge for self-catering holidays”.
If you have a holiday home that you rent out, Coastal Concierge can perform your changeovers, general building maintenance and checks, and a welcome and farewell service - welcoming your clients, making sure the property is ready for their stay, organising a home-cooked meal in the fridge that can be thrown in the oven - everything about Coastal Concierge is to make your life as hassle-free as possible.
Mark said: “Most of the time when you hire a property you get a key safe code and that is it, occasionally you’ll go to an office to pick up your keys, but it’s just so impersonal.” Jolly added: “We really saw a gap in the market for a personalised service, we both love working with people and making them happy.”
If you have a second home that you don’t rent out, Coastal Concierge can help you too. They will regularly check on your property, make sure it is safe and secure, make sure it is ready for when you come down to visit. They will make sure any vehicles or boats kept at the property are in full working order, and be your eyes and ears in the South Hams.
Currently Coastal Concierge are helping to project manage new kitchens and bathrooms for some of their second home clients, allowing owners to make decisions about decoration over videocall and removing the need for travelling up and down or worrying about what is happening in your absence. They are your proxy for your property, meaning when you’re here on holiday, you are only on holiday, and do not have to worry about anything else.
You don’t have to own a property to take advantage of Coastal Concierge’s services either, if you’re coming down to the South Hams and want to take the hassle out of finding what to do and where to go, they can create a personal and bespoke itinerary, drawing on their local knowledge to create the perfect holiday for you and your family.
They will even take the pain out of day trips to the beach, making sure you have a space, a windbreaker, and a picnic, and tidying it up for you afterwards, meaning you avoid the only downside of a trip to the beach, the lugging everything up and down, to and from the car!
Coastal Concierge is all about making everything as seamless, smooth and stress-free as possible. They work closely with bookings and rental companies and also have a tried and tested supply chain when it comes to trades and local companies.
“We select our preferred tradespeople on their ethos, and their ability to react to situations quickly and professionally”, Mark explained, “we treat them well and they look after us. It is the same with our staff, we look after them, pay them well, and they are proud to work for us. That pride comes through in the service we can give to our clients.
“We have a great team of about 20 people in the height of the season and about 10 in the low season. They’re all local people, both experienced staff members who really know their stuff and some young, very hardworking students who come back to us every summer.”
