Endeavour Boardstore is the place to buy or rent all your watersports gear, and also get any advice from their knowledgeable team

If you visited Rockbox on Thurlestone and South Milton Sands throughout August, you will have spotted Endeavour Boardstore’s pop up shop next door.

They sell and hire everything from paddleboards, kayaks, bodyboards, wetsuits, waterski and wakeboard equipment and life jackets, as well as beach games, frisbees, balls and waterproof changing robes,

Endeavour’s pop up shop was the place to go to get everything you need for the beach, or just grab the one thing you forgot to bring and more pop up locations will be coming in the future.

Year round, Endeavour Boardstore is your local stockist for watersports equipment, where you can get fully kitted out for windsurfing, waterskiing, skimboarding, stand up paddleboarding, wing foiling and kitesurfing.

You can book anything through their website, where you can choose your equipment, how long you want it for, pay for it and pick it up, usually within 24 hours. For example, you can hire a stand up paddleboard from just £40 a day, with decreasing rates up to a seven day rental for just £150, which works out at just over £20 a day.

They also have a wide range of wetsuits and lifejackets, as well as impact jackets and buoyancy aids for all types of watersports.

Endeavour Boardstore’s owner, Paul Lane, has been in the watersports industry since he was young, going out to the British Virgin Islands in his twenties. It was actually a twist of fate that landed him out there, as it was actually his friend who was due to go but at the last moment, his partner fell pregnant and he could no longer take the space, so Paul stepped in.

“I spent 12 months out there teaching water skiing, surfing and snorkelling at a place called Birds Creek, which is stunning. I got the watersports bug and haven”t looked back since.” [If you go and meet him at the pop up shop - ask him about meeting Richard Branson!]

Paul’s roots are deep in the South Hams as well, moving to the area from Bristol when he was a child in the 1980s, when his parents owned Anchor Sports in The Anchor Centre in Kingsbridge. Everyone of a certain generation will remember it as where we got all our school uniforms from, along with all our tennis rackets and sports kits.

Paul has surrounded himself with a team who really know their stuff and can answer pretty much any question you can bring to them, including surf instructor Holly Molesworth, who is helping him on the pop up shop and will be able to recommend the right board and kit to keep you safe, warm and having an awesome time on the water.

“We have real collective knowledge at Endeavour”, Paul explained, “Depending on which sport you’re interested in, we have someone who knows about it and can give you great advice. There is something for everyone with watersports and we can help you find what you need.”

Endeavour Boardstore is permanently located in Unit 18 of Loddiswell Business Park, Kingsbridge TQ7 4QG.
