Twisted Marine is making the best, better, and they're doing it in Salcombe

Twisted Marine is making the best, better, by taking high performance, luxury RIBs and boats and giving them the Twisted engineering treatment.

Salcombe Marine Services is rebranding - Twisted Marine will provide all the same incredible services while also creating, revamping and improving amazing crafts. 

Twisted have spent two decades making Land Rover Defenders, the best British 4x4, even better - stronger, faster, more luxurious, and really blazing a trail in engineering and creating the best machine possible. This is the ethos that they are now bringing to water with Twisted Marine. 

Twisted bought Salcombe Marine Services in 2021 and alongside MD and former F1 engineer Jake Cronk, their vision of making the best, better, is going to be transforming RIBs and crafts in Salcombe, as well as continuing to provide the top shelf marine services that they are already known for. 

Jake explained: “Twisted Marine’s HQ will be in Salcombe, where we can take our engineering potential up a notch and take the finished product and make it better, make it faster, better performance, better handling and a better experience.”

The team are creating two series of RIBs, the R-Series and the S-Series. The S-Series is built on Axopar 22 and 25 hulls, creating the T300S, the ultimate adventure craft, further growing the offering of custom, pedigree, and Twisted edition hulls. 

Twisted Marine is taking the best and making it better by utilising an established, pedigree RIB design that has been class leading for several decades. They have then looked at every facet of the design to refine and hone each element and feature, creating a stunning, hand crafted range of RIBs that has surpassed quality and performance within its class.

As well as creating brand new Twisted Marine vessels, the team can also take on legacy builds, bringing old boats back to life, but bigger and better than they were in their heyday. 

In order to showcase the skills and calibre of the work they can perform at Twisted Marine, they are currently working on a 1999 Wellcraft Scarab (the Miami Vice boat) imported from Ohio, USA. Jake explained that despite being a classic, this vessel was probably about five years away from being forgotten on a waterway somewhere and now its being brought back to life, but better. 

Refurbishing and rebuilding old boats can bring a family-owned favourite up to modern standards to be enjoyed for the generations to come, but it is also a sustainable option. Why waste the carbon on a brand new boat, when you can make the best, better, and give a classic vessel a second lease of life? 

Based at the deep-water mooring at Lincombe Boatyard in Salcombe, Twisted Marine have been on the Kingsbridge and Salcombe Estuary for the last two decades and specialise in repair, parts and sales for all boats. They also have the capability to mail order parts and click and collect from their parts and sales counter. 

For something more specialist, Twisted Marine are the main agent for Volvo Penta, Honda Marine, and Yanmar Marine and for the Volvo Penta engines they are the only authorised main agents in Salcombe and a real specialist - so if your boat has a Volvo Penta, why would you take it anywhere else? 

Twisted Marine are really building their brand of excellence beyond the South Hams and into the wider south west. Their trucks are being spotted across the Westcountry, where people who see them know they know their stuff and stand for a brand to believe in. 

Back at home, Twisted Marine can not only repair, service and sell you a beautiful boat, they can solve your short term storage options too. They have three undercover hangers that can be used to store your boat somewhere draft and dust-free. 

Twisted Marine also creates packages for their clients who don’t live in the South Hams, where they can defoul, service, refuel and launch your boat ready for your arrival. 

All the packages are flexible but the most popular one is the ‘Five Launch and Recovery package’ where all they ask is 72 hours notice to get your boat ready for you to come and use it. Perfect for the impromptu visit to the South Hams to take the best advantage of the weather and the conditions.

Twisted Marine is also in the process of taking over the south coast, creating another Twisted Marine Engineering centre in Brighton.

This means that owners who buy a vessel from them, can have another centre to visit for servicing and repair, creating a peace of mind and another great location for storage and water accessibility in the South East as well as the South West.
