Dittisham Boat Hire Ltd offer a range of easy to operate self-drive motor boats, including Orkney Longliners and Whaly 435s. Our sailing boats include a Drascombe Lugger and for the more experienced a 21ft day sailer. We also offer Kayaks (single and double) and Stand up Paddle Boards.

Our Location

Dittisham Boat Hire Ltd operate from the pontoon by the Ferry Boat Inn, in the village of Dittisham, just up from Dartmouth on the beautiful River Dart.

If you are using SatNav the postcode to use is TQ6 OHS. This will take you to the pay and display car park in the village as there is no parking at the pontoon.

Boats

We have a range of boats, motor and sail. The motor boats have either console or tiller steering, some have a cuddy cabin, there are small storage compartments on most of the boats and we can provide dry bags for small personal items.

All our boats have safety equipment to include life jackets/buoyancy aids, anchor, first aid kit, fire extinguisher, bailer and paddles. The Whaly motor boats also come equipped with a GPS. Advice for use will be given as part of the boat handover.

SUP Hire

SUP is the fastest-growing water sport in the world and is a fun, relaxing way to play on the River. Suitable for all ages, as long as you have good swimming ability, this is a great way to spend time on (and possibly in) the water. Since you stand at your full height, you can enjoy unique views of everything from the local sea creatures to what’s on the horizon. A huge amount of fun and without realising, paddle boarding can be a full body workout that improves your core strength, cardio fitness, balance, and flexibility.

Kayaks

We have single and double kayaks for short sessions on the river or full day outings. Depending on your general level of fitness and experience, there is a permitted kayaking area which takes you from the Dittisham pontoon up River towards Totnes. If you would like to hire Kayaks for longer than a day, please call to discuss prices.

Our kayak hire include safety equipment consisting of life jackets/buoyancy aids, first aid kit, a chart of the river and a water proof box to keep your phone in.

We only discovered Dittisham Boats toward the end of our stay in the area which was the bad news. The wife and I have only recently taken up sailing and had given up trying to find somewhere that hired out sailing boats until a chance conversation pointed us in the direction of Dittisham.

Lee was so helpful, patient and quite brave letting two numptys - with very little sailing experience - loose on his lovely 21 foot day boat. Good safety instruction and useful advice on the local areas. The boat was ready rigged so no faffing and was well equipped, even with charts.

We were lucky in that we had amazing conditions - bright sunshine, not too hot, high tide and a lovely breeze. And for anyone not familiar with this area, it is fair to say this has to be one of the most stunning sailing locations in the UK.

Can't wait to return!
