Lower Orchard is a 2 bedroom, 2 shower room fully equipped self catering holiday home in Galmpton near Salcombe in the beautiful South Hams. It comfortably sleeps a family of four or four adults. The well laid out accommodation adjoins the owners’ home but has its own entrance, off road parking for 2 vehicles and a private courtyard with barbecue.
A guide to Lower Orchard is provided to include information on such items as wifi code, useful tel numbers for taxis and restaurants and our recommendations.
Lower Orchard itself comprises two bedrooms, one double and one twin, each with its own shower room. The main living area has a well equipped kitchen, with combi-oven, ceramic hob, dishwasher and fridge. There is a dining table with 4 chairs, and a comfortable seating area for 4 with a Freesat TV/DVD and a coffee table. Patio doors lead off the main room onto a south facing deck, which is in full sun in the afternoon and late evening. The entire property is centrally heated.
Steps from the deck lead down to a private courtyard, with barbecue. There are steps to the front door of Lower Orchard, as well as internally to the twin bedroom, which make Lower Orchard unsuitable for small children and people with limited mobility.
We have been letting Lower Orchard since the Spring of 2017 and it has been a real pleasure to welcome over 100 guests in that time. We have thoroughly enjoyed the experience of helping others to access this lovely area and revelled in the shared enjoyment of everyone who has stayed.
Lower Orchard is in the quiet rural South Devon village of Galmpton, a mile from the delightful seaside village of Hope Cove, with its beaches, pubs and restaurants, and two and a half miles from the bustling holiday town of Salcombe which has many more pubs and restaurants as well as being home to renowned brands such as Crew, Jack Wills, Quba, Will Bees, Salcombe Dairy ice cream and the award winning Salcombe gin!
Equally close is the popular wide and sandy beach at Bantham, which is also noted for its surfing and kite surfing.
The market town of Kingsbridge lies four and a half miles away, with restaurants, pubs, an excellent cinema, a farmers’ market twice a month, supermarkets and a high street featuring artisan shops selling local meat, fish, vegetables and a wide variety of locally produced goods. The South Devon coast is justifiably proud of its seafood and we have good contacts if you want to try cracking a Salcombe red crab, a local lobster or just cooking and eating some of the excellent locally caught fish.
From Lower Orchard there are innumerable walks on the many paths and bridle ways, including a spectacular 6 mile coastal walk to Salcombe via Soar Mill Cove along the South West Coastal footpath. Whilst we provide maps and guides to the many walks we are always keen to learn of new ones, so be prepared to park your car for the duration of your stay and let your feet do the work!
