Let’s get plogging!!!
Plogging is a new eco-friendly running trend. It’s a combination of jogging and Swedish term “plocka upp” meaning pick up.
The concept is simple. Rather than jogging on past the litter lying on the street, pick it up and dispose it correctly instead.
Plogging as a workout provides variation in body movements by adding bending, squatting, stretching and many more.
A half hour of plogging will burn 288 calories on average - compared to just 235 calories from regular jogging.
All you need to plog is your running gear, a bag for litter, and ideally a pair of gloves to protect your hands from whatever lovely surprises you find along your route!
Join us for our second Kingsbridge Plogging session!
The plan is to jog from the starting point and then stop for a 3 minute “tidy up” at the Kingsbridge Recreation Ground. Then we are going to carry on with the jog and stop for another 3 minute “tidy up” at the end of the route at the back of the Sports Centre.
These are only proposed stops so feel free to stop anytime during the jog and fill up your litter bag!
Please be prepared to take your litter home with you if there isn't enough space in the bins in the town.
Suitable for all ages and fitness levels. Family friendly.
