Few passing places due to high and thick hedgerows. Low slung cars avoid this! Newer cars at risk of scratches from vegetation and chips from loose stones. Potholes. Narrow parking area and turning. The walk down from the ample car park passes some beautiful views over the Erme River estuary and culminates in the stunning vista of the beach opening up before you. Green fields and trees slope steeply down giving an almost private beach experience. The beach slopes gently in to the sea and being quite protected by the headland I've never known it rough. The sand is perfect for children and there are a multitude of rock pools to explore. The old coastguard cottage hints not only at its smuggling past but even more recently also people smugglers taking advantage of this isolated Beauty spot. There are no facilities at the beach but there is an excellent cafe beside the car park. Picnics are definately the order of the day, just please take home the rubbish. The larger, when the tide is out, Harbour Beach, lives up to its name. Sitting on the golden sand and watching people take boats, kayaks and paddle boards out is fascinating. The phrase 'messing about ...' springs to mind. It's one of the best. All the staff are always sooooo friendly. Vast, open sandy and shingle beach, beautiful sea shore, surrounded by trees and sweeping green fields, we feel 'cocooned' in an oasis of coastal calm. A definite favourite for me! Beautiful sheltered sandy beach with nearby parking. It never gets too crowded here and the cafe is outstanding. We spend many days here each summer and always feel like we're on holiday even though we live only a few miles away!
