Mother and daughter team give special Christmas delivery for our four-legged friends
Young South Hams resident Jess Colton, 12, has spent the last few months collecting doggy goodies to pack into shoeboxes for two local dog charities, and now she has fulfilled her Christmas promise!
Jess’s mum Suzi said: “We jammed our car full of your donations (so much so Jess had to sit on a dog bed and have shoeboxes on her lap). We travelled to Gables Dogs & Cats Home and Woodside Animal Welfare Trust and delivered 100 shoeboxes to them, along with towels, dog beds and two more huge boxes full of goodies that wouldn’t fit in the shoeboxes.
“We met the lovely staff who work and volunteer there and learnt all about the work they do to care for the animals. We couldn’t visit any dogs due to Covid but we did manage to meet Sammy the Staffie (who is adorable) and she helped herself to a new toy ball.”
The mother and daughter team thanked “all who donated and supported” them, saying “you lot are just awesome” and adding that it feels “absolutely fantastic” that every dog in their care received a box on Christmas Day full of toys and treats.
Dogs are in the blood for Kingsbridge Community College student Jess, whose mum Suzi runs Waggles, dog walkers and food and treat suppliers, and The Waggle Club on social media.
