Now that September is here and the evenings, and weather, start closing in, we all look for ways to recapture the warmth and memories of summer. This is why a visit to Kingsbridge’s La Ranchera, Cozina Mexicana is a must.

Opened by Neil and Beatriz (Betty) in 2015, this superb Mexican restaurant at the bottom of Church Street serves familiar favourites such as nachos, quesadillas, tacos and burritos with a mouth-watering choice of fillings, and as hot and spicy (or not) as you like.

Betty also hopes to tempt you with some of the regional specialities enjoyed in her home town of Zinapecuaro. How about Enchiladas Morelianas – rolled corn tortillas filled with cheese and onion and soft chilli-infused sauce, topped with sauteed potatoes and carrots, and finished with crunchy lettuce, crumbly cheese and cream? Mmm.

Or, how about Camarones Borrachos (drunk prawns) – sauteed king prawns with a warm chilli taste and mescal sauce, served with buttered rice, French fries and salad? This is real sunshine food to keep you warm and smiling through the long winter months ahead.

With such a wonderful selection of authentic Mexican/Michoacán dishes to choose from, expertly cooked by Betty, word spreads fast. La Ranchera is open Tuesdays to Saturdays inclusive, from 6pm to 11pm, and you’d be well advised to book ahead. Give them a ring on 01548 856707.

For one lucky couple, however, Neil and Betty are offering a FREE two course meal for two to the value of £60. To be in with a chance of winning this fantastic meal out, all you have to do is LIKE our SouthHams Facebook Page and SHARE this post on Facebook. Good luck - competition ends on 30th September 2016.
