Detectives investigating a series of burglaries in the Kingsbridge area have issued advice to residents.

Over recent months, a number of properties have been targeted, often holiday lets or the homes of vulnerable victims, and various items including bank cards stolen.

It is believed the suspects have set up Facebook pages advertising cleaning services for holiday lets to gain access to lock box codes and spare keys, ahead of future burglaries.

Detectives investigating the offences have advised residents to be aware of instances of thieves pretending to be legitimate cleaning businesses operating in the Kingsbridge and wider South Devon area, targeting holiday homes and vulnerable residents.

Residents are asked to verify any businesses that advertise on social media pages or local message boards by using sites such as https://orlo.uk/c4A1u, https://orlo.uk/8oU7M and other genuine reviews.

Two suspects, a man and a woman from Kingsbridge, have been arrested in relation to the investigation and are currently on police bail.

Anybody wishing to report a burglary can do so via 101 or our website, or 999 if the crime is ongoing.
