Emergency services on scene after person falls from bridge onto rocks
FeaturedNewAmbulance, police and fire crews are on scene in Ivybridge where a person has fallen from the bridge onto the rocks and river below.
UPDATE: Statement from Devon and Cornwall Police:
"Police were notified at around 5pm on Wednesday 13 September to reports of a concern of welfare of a female who had fallen into the water near to Costly Street in Ivybridge.
"Emergency services attended the scene and put cordons in place while officers and other emergency staff extracted the woman from the water. She was taken to hospital with a possible broken arm.
"Cordons were lifted at around 6pm."
The incident, at the top of Fore Street in Ivybridge, was still ongoing at 5.50pm on Wednesday, 13 September, with the road currently closed.
The patient is said to be "conscious and breathing".
A statement put out by Ivybridge Rural Police on their Facebook page said: "Ivybridge officers are currently dealing with an incident at the top of Fore St following a report that a person had fallen from the bridge onto the rocks and river below.
"Fore St will remain closed for a period of time whilst our Fire and Ambulance colleagues extract the casualty who is conscious and breathing."
