The Flavel is the heart of Dartmouth's entertainment: Cinema, live music and shows, opera, theatre, art gallery, venue hire, wellbeing clubs and classes - something for everyone!
Classes and Meetings
The Main Auditorium - This is ideal for larger events. It has professional lighting, a full PA system with microphones, a laptop and projector linked to our digital cinema screen, lecterns, and raked seating for up to 200 people. The seats can also be retracted to give you a large space for a party, meal or dancing. With a range of tables and chairs available, the auditorium can be arranged to suit most events.
The Studio - This is ideal for children’s parties, talks, staff training, workshops, classes, AGMs and the like. WiFi is available and The Studio has a digital projector, screen, kitchenette and blinds.
The Green Room - This is ideal for small groups, meetings, interviews or one-to-one sessions. It seats 10 people. The Flavel is in the centre of historic Dartmouth, with plenty of parking, accommodation, restaurants and shops nearby. Every day our venue is used for meetings, lectures, interviews, training events, discussion groups, bridge club and fitness, language or art classes. The Flavel can also be hired for larger events, such as performances, public meetings, trade shows, conferences and parties.
Trade Shows - We have had several successful trade shows and ‘event weekends’ at The Flavel over the years. We can accommodate up to 40 stands and can offer the building for hire for one day shows, as well as shows that span several days. There is a cafe open in the building during business hours and we have a bar for refreshments if your event goes on into the evening.
Marketing - Letting people know that your event is happening here is obviously key to making it successful. If you provide us with your marketing materials, we will make sure they are displayed in The Flavel. You can also advertise your event in our very popular live events brochure (we send and give 30,000 of these a year) or on our screens in the bar, at reception and before the films in the main hall.
Access - The Flavel is fully accessible; we have ramped access at the front of the building and a lift which serves all floors.
The Art Gallery at The Flavel hosts a regular programme of temporary selling exhibitions. Exhibitions usually run for a few weeks and entry to the Gallery is free whenever we are open.
Our exhibitions in the past year have included photography, paintings, prints, drawings, ceramics, sculpture, craft and textile work. We aim to showcase the best of established and emerging talent from across the South Hams.
