Scammer calling schools is pretending to be a police officer
Police have been made aware of a man cold-calling schools in the area and "giving the impression that he was a police caller".
A spokesperson for Devon and Cornwall Police said: "We have been informed of a male cold-calling stating that he was selling books relevant to schools in the local area and for a class the cost would be in the region of £150.
"The school that was cold-called was wrongly given the impression that the caller was a police officer – this is not the case. We would like to inform schools that we have no knowledge that these books are affiliated or approved by Devon and Cornwall Police.
"Please be wary of the authenticity of cold callers."
