Choose Bespoke Devon for First-Rate Holiday Home Stress Relief

Nicki Gray, the founder and managing director of Bespoke Devon was brought up in Corsica. Her parents built and ran a complex of 40 villas and apartments, two restaurants and a bar about 300 meters from the beach. She was raised knowing the ins and outs of the hospitality industry in great detail and holiday property management is in her blood. After a ten year successful stint of property refurbishment in London Nicki and her partner Miles moved to Devon in 2005 and renovated a further three properties down here. Nicki was then lucky enough to land the rather enviable job as an executive PA to the Managing Director at the renowned five star hotel; Bovey Castle. With that vast array of experience behind her it comes as no surprise that when she decided to enter the world of holiday home management here in Devon in 2014 that it was a roaring success. After all, this wasn’t someone dipping their toe into an appealing market and hoping for the best. Nicki was simply returning to her roots.

Nicki and Lesley at Bespoke Devon now head up a team of up to 20 staff and from their headquarters in Totnes they manage holiday homes across the whole of the South Hams. They pride themselves on being a great employer and truly look after their staff. This shows as their staff return year after year which affords them an experienced loyal team who they can trust with their clients’ precious homes.

Bespoke Devon can run their clients booking website, run their Airbnb account or simply fill the gap between agency and guest. Nicki runs the company with the sole agenda of minimising the stress involved in owning a holiday home whilst maximising the income and enjoyment involved in owning it. To do this they offer tailor made packages for each and every one of their clients. “No two properties are the same. Every property has to be looked at independently and a bespoke package has to be put together - hence the company name,” explained Nicki.

“We do everything the owner could possibly need us to do. They can literally hand us the keys and not have to waste a single second worrying about it after that. The owner gets their own dedicated property manager. We can do diary management, cleaning, laundry, key-holding, weekly checks, out of hours telephone service, welcome texts, provision packs, meter readings and the whole works. We work with the client to find out which of these or any other tasks they require and we do them. Simple as that. There really is so much involved in owning a property and when you are hundreds of miles away from that property it can become rather stressful. Our job is to take that stress away and we’re rather good at it. The responsibility of having guests contact you can be very difficult for the owner. We’re experienced and broad shouldered. We’re on the ground and can react quickly. We deal with any enquiries that come in. For instance if there’s something the guest can’t find then we are there to help. We also offer a full concierge service. We are so much more than just a cleaning company. We are like having your own assistant in Devon.”

Speaking to Nicki it’s clear that she adores her job. Her passion is contagious, “I love it when our clients know beyond any shadow of a doubt that we’ve completely got their backs. We are looking after their house and we are looking after their guests. That’s everything!”
