Update: Collision involving car and building at Torbay Hospital

At 10.50am on Wednesday, 27 November, police were called to the grounds of Torbay Hospital after a vehicle collided with a building.

A number of people within the building were injured.

Members of hospital staff and all three emergency services attended the scene and worked quickly to assist those who had been injured in the incident.

One woman suffered serious injuries and was taken to Derriford Hospital. Her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

The driver, a man in his 60s, was treated at hospital for his injuries. Several other people sustained minor injuries.

Officers would like to thank hospital staff for their assistance in managing the scene and members of the public visiting the hospital for their patience.

The fire and ambulance services were both also called.

Three people have been injured.

The incident is ongoing but the hospital remains open.
