Crews battle industrial fire in Totnes
An industrial unit has been completely destroyed by fire in Totnes.
A fire investigation began this morning after a fire destroyed an industrial unit in Totnes last night.
Fire crews were called to the scene on Babbage Road just after 8pm last night, Monday, 25 April, following "several calls". Because so many calls were received, five fire engines and an Aerial Ladder Platform were mobilised to the scene.
When they arrived, firefighters found a single storey industrial unit "well alight" with the blaze "spreading to adjacent units".
Three more units were called to attend, along with a Welfare Unit from Ivybridge Fire station and Incident Command Vehicle from Honiton Fire Station.
In the end, crews from Totnes Fire Station, Buckfastleigh Fire Station, Ivybridge Fire Station, Torquay Fire Station, Paignton Fire Station, Ashburton Fire Station, Brixham Fire Station, Newton Abbot Fire Station, Teignmouth Fire Station, Clyst St George Fire Station and Martock Fire Station all attended.
The fire involved an industrial unit, measuring 30 meters x 15 meters used for cardboard packaging, a telehandler was used to turn over and damp down as the incident was scaled back around midnight.
The cause of the fire is currently undetermined and a fire investigation began this morning.
