Devon and Cornwall Police have charged a man in connection with an incident in Woolwell. 

Police have charged a man in connection to an incident in Woolwell, near Plymouth, on Friday, 16 August.

Aaron Hendry, 24, of Fort Austin Avenue, Plymouth, has been charged with a number of offences including attempted robbery, wounding with intent, possession of an offensive weapon, threatening a person with a bladed article in a public place, theft of motor vehicle and a number of driving offences.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Plymouth Crown Court on Monday, 23 September.

Officers were called at around 12.20pm on Friday, 16 August, following reports of an attempted robbery at Lidl in Woolwell, Plymouth.

It was reported a suspect entered the store and held a knife to a customer demanding money before fleeing empty handed. Armed response units attended.

A man in his 40s from Plymouth was located by police nearby and arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, possession of a bladed article and assisting an offender. He has been bailed pending further enquiries at this time.

Hendry, from Plymouth was also been arrested on suspicion of attempted robbery, threats to kill, theft of a motor vehicle and additional driving offences. This man remains in police custody.
