Salcombe RNLI continue close relationship with Baltic Exchange

Salcombe’s RNLI as continued its close connection with the Baltic Exchange as they attended a dinner in London.

The Baltic Exchange, “the world's only independent source of maritime market information for the trading and settlement of physical and derivative contracts”, has long been a supporter of Salcombe RNLI and their members who raised more than half a million pounds towards the purchase of our current lifeboat ‘The Baltic Exchange III,’ which arrived in 2008.

The Baltic and its members have been keen supporters of the RNLI since 1868 and the Salcombe Lifeboats since 1962. Their support has continued through to the current day.

RNLI Salcombe crew members attended a lunch in the dining room of the The Worshipful Company of Bakers, Bakers Hall, London, on Friday, and were greeted by the chairman of the Baltic Exchange, Denis Petropoulos and Chief Executive, Mark Jackson.

A spokesperson for Salcombe RNLI said: “For years, the lunch has taken place on an alternate year basis with the Baltic members visiting Salcombe for a fund-raising weekend, normally around Regatta week, so maintaining our close relationship.

“Now as COVID fears ease its hoped that those events may once again become possible!

“Our thanks to The Baltic Exchange, for their generous support of RNLI Salcombe and those who find themselves in need of our services.”
