Established in 1987, Ashby’s is a family-run business that began with the opening of a store on the stunning Kingsbridge to Dartmouth coastal road. This combined outdoor and general store remains, under the name Ashby’s of Kingsbridge, as well as, in 2018, being joined by Ashby’s of Salcombe with The Blue Whale Cafe, just a few miles away on the main road between Malborough and Salcombe.
Ashby’s of Salcombe, in keeping with the Ashby's ethos, aims to provide a vast range of stock under one roof!

A highlight is The Blue Whale Café with its stunning panoramic views beside the Salcombe Estuary overlooking the South Hams all the way up to Dartmoor! All food is locally sourced and freshly prepared on-site by our chefs. We are open 7 days a week. Drop in for everything from a coffee and cake to a two-course lunch with a glass of wine!

Superb breakfast (good ingredients well prepared) and good coffee. The staff are lovely too and always bring a treat for our dog.

Their breakfast is spot on, it was 10/10. Waiters/waitress served with a smile and the place was clean and relaxing.
The shop has a huge variety of goods but for me the crowning glory was the butchery, you can just see the quality of the meat. Sausages and bacon were delicious, and we had some sirloin steak.. It was one of the tastiest I've ever had, so rich and meaty. And the mince is delicious too, full of flavour, I just wish I bought more to bring home! :)
