Auction of Promises aims to raise money for eight organisations with curry and music
East Allington Big Fundraiser is raising money for Devon Air Ambulance alongside seven village causes.
Organiser Martyn Luckhurst, explained that the event got started when he overheard different village groups talking about investments they would love to make in their own spaces.

He explained: "I was in the pub and could overhear people talking about the football club wanting to upgrade the changing rooms, the youth club wanting to upgrade their facilities for young people, the church being able to cover insurance for our annual Fun Day in July. We are not a wealthy village, so I was thinking about a way that all of these causes could benefit from one fundraising push.
"When I was a teacher at Kingsbridge Community College I organised a similar event and we raised thousands of pounds, so I'm hoping we can pull it off again. I was sat with Richard Tucker at the time and he offered the use of his barn, we are always hearing blokes talk about how good their curry is so we're going to ask them to put their money where their mouth is for that and donate their best curry for a curry buffet.
"Hatch Marquee have given us a reduced rate for decorating the inside of the barn and transforming it into a party space, the East Allington PTFA are running a licenced bar, we will have Wi-Fi for payments on the night thanks to Skylight, and we have 24 tables of ten to eat, drink and dance to live music from Matfin, after an Auction of Promises run by well-renowned auctioneer Stuart Hext."
Some of the prizes coming up so far are very impressive. So far there is a week in a villa in Spain, Tomahawk axe throwing, plumbing services, reflexology, parking at Bantham Beach, a delivery of logs, stays at AirB&Bs and much more.
Martyn added: "We have already been astounded by the generosity of people, especially when money is tight for everyone."
The event will take place on July 26, so get your tickets now to avoid disappointment.
The causes include Devon Air Ambulance, East Allington Football Club, Knit & Natter, East Allington Youth Club, East Allington Village Hall, East Allington Church Strimmers, St Andrew's Church and East Allington PTFA.
You can book a table via this link, and if you book a table early enough, you can get a ten-person table for the price of eight people.
