Paddle Boarding in Salcombe
At Salcombe Paddle Boarding, we offer tuition, estuary tours and equipment hire from our boathouse base at Port Waterhouse, East Portlemouth. We believe we have one of the best locations for paddle boarding in the South Hams. We’re easily accessed by car from Kingsbridge, with onsite parking and by passenger ferry from Salcombe, just a ten minute walk away.
Most importantly, we provide tuition in some of the most sheltered waters locally that you’re likely to find.
During your time with us, we can show you some of the hidden gems of the Kingsbridge ria, many of which are only visible and accessible from the water – inlets, creeks and private beaches away from the crowds and home to many varieties of plants, birds and other wildlife. It is a magical world just waiting to be discovered.
Tuition and fees
Groups: £40 per person per two-hour session
Private groups: from £60 per person for a two-hour session
One-to-one tuition: £80 per two-hour session
All lessons include hire of our premium quality Red paddle boards, paddles, buoyancy aids and wetsuits if required
Estuary tours
We also offer guided estuary tours which can be customised to your requirements. Please ask us for further details.
Children and learners
We can make special provision for coaching young children and cautious paddlers or anyone learning; at high tides, the pontoons below the boathouse form an enclosed pool, safe and protected from high winds – the perfect setting to "find your feet” before venturing further out on the estuary. If you have any other particular requirements, please let us know.
Equipment hire
For more experienced paddle boarders, equipment is available for hire. Please get in touch for further details.
Safety
Your instructors are highly experienced with over 10 years’ local lifeguarding experience between them. They have an in-depth knowledge of the local waterways and your safety and welfare is a top priority. Salcombe Paddle Boarding operates a licenced safety rib boat, its instructors are CRB checked, and are members of the International Surfing Association.

Great instruction, and have gone from absolute novice to feeling comfortable and confident on the water.
It's a lovely venue in a great location.
The prices are really reasonable too, and offer fantastic value.
Thanks so much folks.
This is an amazing way to see the estuary, the water (in a superbly sun bathed later October afternoon) was crystal clear and warmer than expected.
The Salcombe Paddleboard Company run out of a waterside location with everything that you could need. We booked a group lesson, which saw 12 of us take to the water. Safety was high on the agenda as was fun. As has been mentioned in other reviews Marcus is a top chap. Super friendly, knowledgeable and the perfect guide/instructor.
We were all standing up in 10 minutes or less and loving every minute. We all took a small dip the the sea (to be read...falling off) but that just added to the fun!
Highly recommended way to see the watery locale!
