Beautiful secluded beaches. Gentle, peaceful creeks. Stunning cliffs and caves. Fantastic rock hopping. Snorkelling. Coasteering. Wild camping in glorious locations teaming with nature and wildlife... it's all waiting to be discovered by kayak, here in Salcombe and along the South Hams coast.
We introduce people of all ages (minimum age 8) and abilities to the best sea kayaking in Salcombe, with routes and adventures to suit everyone.
RYA Powerboat Courses
New this year, we are excited to be teaching RYA Powerboat Courses in the stunning Salcombe Harbour.
Learning to drive a powerboat safely and effectively is a crucial part of having a relaxing day on the water, and we have something on offer for everyone. Our RYA Powerboat Level 1 course is ideal for kids aged 8 - 12 who are looking to take their first foray into powerboat driving. Our experienced instructors will show your young-ones the most effective ways to drive boats (both wheel steered and tiller steered) and help provide them with confidence at the helm!
Our Powerboat level 2 course is designed for adults and kids aged 12 or more - requiring no prior experience, it teaches all the skills taught in the level 1 course, but takes them to a greater level of detail whilst also supporting the practical skills with theory knowledge - including knowledge of the tides, weather and practical navigation. With your Powerboat Level 2 certificate, you can apply for an International Certificate of Competence (ICC) which allows you to hire boats internationally. The RYA PB2 certificate is also a pre-requisite for many jobs on the water!
As well as our formal RYA Powerboat training courses, we also offer refresher sessions, local knowledge teaching and familiarisation sessions. If you've just got a new boat. haven't boated for a while or are going on holiday and fancy a refresher, please get in touch - we can put something together to meet your needs!
RYA Windsurfing Courses
New for 2024, we are very excited to be teaching Windsurfing in the beautiful Salcombe Harbour.
There are few feelings as brilliant as the feeling of shooting across the water powered by nothing but the wind, and the satisfaction as you grow to control your windsurf kit and harness the power of the wind.
We have beginner windsurf courses on offer for both kids and adults - for kids, we offer the RYA Stage 1 and RYA Stage 2 courses and for adults we offer the RYA Level 1 'Start Windsurfing' course. These course are excellent foundational courses that take you from no pre-requisite knowledge to a point where you are comfortable windsurfing in gentle conditions and able to sail both upwind and downwind. The courses are almost entirely practical and you'll leave having had plenty of time on the water.
We are also running a Windsurf Club where you can come and use our equipment and develop the skills you've learnt on one of our courses.
Kids Club
Ideal for Salcombe and East Portlemouth regulars and local residents alike, our Kids' Club is designed to give your children fantastic, fun watersports experiences every week of the summer. This will allow your children to grow in water confidence and gain paddlesport skills. Our Kids' Club is suitable for kids aged 10 - 16 - please get in touch if you have any questions.
Sessions are held weekly, every Thursday from 16.00 to 18.00 and are led by one or more of our fully qualified watersports instructors. Each session lasts 2 hours and will involve either Paddleboarding, kayaking or a mixture of the two (whatever the group wants to do!).
Whilst the lessons are led by qualified instructors, these slots are more designed as an opportunity for your kids to get out and have amazing experiences on the water during their summer holidays. There will be loads of opportunities for learning, but the sessions won't be structured as formal lessons.
In order to take part in one of our sessions your child must be a member of our Kids' Club. Once you're a member, all our Kid's Club sessions are free so you don't have to pay any more. The cost of becoming a member is £125 annually. This saves you over 71% over paying for lessons individually!

Absolute beginner, 2 hour session
100% confidence right from the start with Marcus’s clear and thorough attention to safety
Fabulous time all round, thank you Marcus!
Looking forward to the next one!
Sam was great, very friendly & patient with us.
It was brilliant to see Salcombe from a different view!
There are changing rooms/toilets/a small shower for afterwards & all our belongings were safely locked up in the unit while we were out.
Next time we are in the area we will definitely come back for another go!
As the roads are pretty narrow lanes to get there (it’s on the other side of the estuary from the town)
We parked in the town & used the ‘Salcombe ferry’ which runs across the estuary, (£2 something pp) and then a 10min walk on the other side. Much easier than trying to navigate the small lanes!
Great instruction, and have gone from absolute novice to feeling comfortable and confident on the water.
It's a lovely venue in a great location.
The prices are really reasonable too, and offer fantastic value.
Thanks so much folks.
This is an amazing way to see the estuary, the water (in a superbly sun bathed later October afternoon) was crystal clear and warmer than expected.
The Salcombe Paddleboard Company run out of a waterside location with everything that you could need. We booked a group lesson, which saw 12 of us take to the water. Safety was high on the agenda as was fun. As has been mentioned in other reviews Marcus is a top chap. Super friendly, knowledgeable and the perfect guide/instructor.
We were all standing up in 10 minutes or less and loving every minute. We all took a small dip the the sea (to be read...falling off) but that just added to the fun!
Highly recommended way to see the watery locale!
