Chillington is gearing up for their summer fair and dog show to take place at the end of the month.

Make your way down to Chillington Village Hall and its grounds, for the 2023 Chillington Village Fair and Dog Show.

Crufts has nothing on it!

Neil Martin, Chillington Community Association trustee, said: "Over the day, there will be more fun, entertainment, demonstrations, food and craft stalls than you can handle all taking place on Saturday, 26 August.

"We are looking at raising funds to modernise the entertainment system in the Hall to allow for improved History in the Hall presentations, a Sound System for the Musicians practices in a Monday PM, provide entertainment for the Youth Group, and offer the CCA a medium we can use for other activities like film nights, and support to events like Wassailing.

"You will be supporting your village to improve by attending."

From midday, you'll be treated to a barrage of the all the much-loved fete and fairground attractions such as hook-a-duck, a coconut shy, Splat the rat, a slip-and-slide, wine pull, raffles of various sorts, table top sales and much, much more.

To keep that energy up throughout the day there will be plenty of food and drink on offer, including a BBQ, tray bakes, teas and coffees served from the Village Hall, The CCA Beer tent serving cider, lager, beer,  Pimms and soft drinks, as well as the ever-popular strawberries and cream.

As well as the bumper selection of food and drink there will also be a huge variety of vintage and modern vehicles at the show to delight the petrol-head in you.

I've you've not a had enough of a kick make sure to watch the Karate Demonstration at noon from the Chillington Hall Karate Club run by Caroline Hart.

The dog show starts at 1pm. Classes are Best Pedigree, Best Crossbreed, Best Puppy, Dog that Most Resembles its Handler and Best Dressed, as well as overall Best in Show, so make sure you've pampered that pooch and given them a pat and a pep-talk and get ready for some serious competition.

The dog show will be judged by Maria Vinson of Rescue Animals of North Africa, who will be ably assisted by Gail Addison.

There will also be various musical entertainment during the day from the Chillington Players and other artists including piped music.

Not a day to be missed!
