A Year 11 student who attended Ivybridge Community College has died following a collision with a train. 

The youngster, who has not been named, is thought to be a Year 11 student at Ivybridge Community College, and was killed when he came into contact with a train near to Ivybridge Train Station around 9am yesterday morning. 

A BTP statement said: "Officers were called to the line near Ivybridge railway station at 9.02am today following reports of a casualty on the tracks. Paramedics also attended, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.

"This incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
