Kingsbridge Town Council has cancelled the Movies on the Square event due to adverse weather forecasts.

Kingsbridge Town Council was looking forward to hosting a screening of It's A Wonderful Life on Sunday, 18 December, but after "following the weather forecast very closely over the last few days" they have decided to cancel the event.

A statement released on the council's social media said: "The forecast has remained constant for Heavy Rain (75%-80% risk of rain) and strong winds. It would not be a great experience to sit in the rain for over two hours and our contractor is concerned that the large screen itself may be unable to cope with the conditions.

"Therefore, and with a heavy heart, the decision has been made to cancel the event.

"However, if you want some early Christmas cheer to get you in the mood for the festive season then please come along to Carols at the Christmas Tree, at 6pm, this Friday, 16 December, in the Town Square."
