Kingsbridge Fire Crew was called to a "fire on the cliffs" that turned out to be a private bonfire.

A spokesperson for Kingsbridge Fire Station said it was a "busy night" as the crew had already been called to assist an ambulance crew, and were back at home when they got the call to attend a "fire up on the cliff" at Challaborough.

When they arrived, the spokesperson said "all was well and we were not required" as it was a "private fireworks party with a nice bonfire to keep warm".

They went on to advise that if you're thinking or planning to have a bonfire and fireworks display "please choose your location carefully and make sure you have a hose or water supply to control any embers that may cause it to spread".

They added: "If it’s a bigger display please notify us as it helps our control room decide what resources to send to a reported incident. STAY SAFE."
