Salcombe woman Kirsty Bonner has won the Miss Plymouth competition, taking her to the national final for Miss Great Britain.

Kirsty Bonner, 22, has lived in Salcombe her "whole life" and intends to use her platform as Miss Plymouth to raised awareness of "safety at sea and the conservation of the natural environment".

Kirsty Bonner is now Miss Plymouth 2024

Kirsty said: "I feel these are both such important issues, particularly living in Devon. I have been involved in a charity concert taking place in Salcombe in October for which proceeds will be donated to the RNLI.

"I have also been raising money for Cancer Research UK as this is one of the Miss Great Britain official charities. Over the summer I completed the Plymouth Race for Life to raise money for this cause."

Kirsty had never competed in a pageant before putting her name forward for the Miss Plymouth competition and is still brushing up her skills, "learning how to walk in heels" and "preparing myself for the pageant world, to which I am a complete novice".

She also has a strong focus on body positivity, saying: "As a bigger girl, I am also eager to prove that your body shouldn't be a barrier to you achieving anything you set your mind to, and that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

"I’m very excited for this Miss Great Britain experience and am honoured to represent the area we live in."

Good luck Kirsty!
