Totnes Connection Hub is leaving their current location and they're not taking the food bank with them.

Totnes Connection Hub is run by Marketplace Ministries and provides a place for many different organisations and services to come together to support those in the local community.

They run the food bank, support people with "clothing, toiletries, bedding and fresh take away food" as well as offering therapies which help with emotional needs and "supporting parents and children in a variety of different ways, including meals".

They also work alongside local agencies to offer "support for housing, drug and alcohol abuse, financial support, help with benefits and job applications", as well as domestic violence support.

On Thursday, they announced that with the renewal of the lease of the building they currently occupy, they "undertook a review and assessment of services, looking at costs and outcomes". They said: "In speaking to the core team and support workers who give their time and skills for free, it has become clear that unanimously they are wanting to invest their time into those who are prepared to have some buy in to the process to see their lives turned around. We can continue this work without the overheads of a building.

"We are in negotiations with several organisations who may wish to take over some or all of our core services, so as to continue provision."

They continued: "The people of Totnes have been amazing in their support, which has enabled much of the work of the Connection Hub and Food Bank to succeed.

"We know there are many individuals in the town with a passion for this work who may also wish take over this service provision and if so we would love to hear from you.

"Until then, we are continuing to work with agencies in the town to help those in need. It is early days and we will keep posting up to date information here as and when things change."

We have contacted Totnes Connection Hub and will hope to bring you an update on the situation soon, including whether a new provider for the food bank has been found.

If you would like to offer your help or would like to discuss taking over any of the Connection Hub's provisions, you can contact them through their Facebook page, or by calling 01803 840354 or 07946 821154.
