The first stand-alone and family-orientated gym has opened in Salcombe, offering open workout sessions, personal training and fitness classes.

The Studio Salcombe opened in July 2023 and has already become popular with locals and holidaymakers alike, attracted to their friendly, supportive environment and cosy location.

Run by couple Eoghan and Chelsea Grace, The Studio Salcombe is focussed on being a welcoming gym that allows the whole family and all abilities to enjoy and improve their fitness journey.

Eoghan is a former professional rugby player with a degree in Strength and Conditioning and qualifications in personal training, while his wife Chelsea is a former fitness model and blogger who focuses on fitting children and family life around fitness and wellbeing.

“We have a small space, so we are not an intimidating gym to be a member of.”

The Studio Salcombe offers fitness classes between 6am and 10am and in the evenings between 5pm and 7pm, so there is a lot of variety and flexibility open to their users.

When there aren’t classes going on, the middle of the day is a free open gym session and people can work out at their leisure.

Eoghan and Chelsea are also keen to bring tailored support to the gym experience, which they feel has been lost with the introduction of many 24/7 gyms.

“We felt like people weren’t actually getting the service they deserved”, Eoghan said. “We want The Studio to be a community gym, where there is always someone on hand to help, support and give advice, during personal training sessions and during open gym slots.”

“We’re here to help you get the most out of your time with us.”

Family and children are very important to The Studio Salcombe. Children are encouraged to get involved and be present while their parents are working out, helping to foster an interest in health and fitness from an early age.

“We are very child-friendly”, Eoghan explained. “A lot of parents find it hard to get to the gym or fitness classes around their children' s schedules, so we’ve emphasised classes to support parents with this and it’s working well.” We want to build a healthy bond between parents and children and thinks it’s important they can see Mum and Dad working out and keeping healthy. We also have Ninja Warrior classes and even the little four and five year olds LOVE IT.”

Members of The Studio Salcombe use an app to book sessions, check availability and more. You can register for free with the GloFox app [Apple App Store & Android Google Play Store] and from there you can sign up for memberships or pay-as-you-go at The Studio Salcombe.

Not only is their space and approach very flexible and bespoke, but their memberships can be too. The Studio Salcombe offers three membership levels: PT sessions or Partner PT sessions, Class Memberships and open gym memberships, which gives you full access to everything you need.

You can also pay-as-you-go at The Studio Salcombe, meaning you’re not tied into memberships you may not be able to take full advantage of, and also being a great option for second-home-owners or holiday-makers who are here for a few weeks here and there.

Members benefit from a higher level of training and coaching to either support their passion or to help those on holiday to stay fit while enjoying the stunning South Hams.

If you want to kickstart your health journey after the feasting at Christmas and have some New Year Resolutions to get fitter and healthier,  you can also join The Studio’s 90 Day Kickstart programme, a successful transformation programme that gets you on the right path from the start.

If you join the 90 Day Kickstart Programme, you get access to three personal training sessions a month, and access to 8 Classes or Open Gym sessions (or a mix of both) for the 90 days, which works out as a lower price than a single personal training session a week. Alongside that you also get welcomed into The Studio’s Tribe, a group of like-minded people on their own fitness journeys, who are there for inspiration, motivation and empowerment together as one.

With Eoghan’s background in professional sports, elite athletes and sportsmen are also catered for at The Studio Salcombe.

The Studio, Salcombe, are currently running a crowdfunder to raise £10k to take them to the next level, where you can get discounted memberships through too! Just click the "rewards" section: www.crowdfunder.co.uk/p/the-studio-salcombe-fundraising-the-next-steps

The Studio Salcombe has parking and is also conveniently located near the Park and Ride in Salcombe, and boasts great changing and showering facilities and is open to anyone from across the South Hams.
