Prior to Christmas thirteen members of the newly-formed South Hams e-bike club, took to their saddles and rode out on the clubs’ first members group ride. The weather was fantastic and played a part in what was a memorable e-bike tour.

The group set off from the Churchstow HQ of e-Xplore Devon and completed a circuit of 22 miles taking in Bantham, Thurlestone, Hope Cove and Salcombe before returning to Kingsbridge via Collapit Creek.

The club is the brainchild of Andy Lucas and Karl-Morgan Hough of e-Xplore Devon who sell, hire and service e-bikes from their premises at the South Hams Business Park. ‘We thought it would be fun to start a club where like-minded e-bikers could go on rides together and gain confidence, meet new people and explore some new areas of the South Hams. At the moment we hope to stage a group ride around once a month but we would encourage members to share contact details, organise rides and share information and experiences between themselves at anytime’

The club is free to join and open to everyone over 14, the legal age to ride an e-bike. New members can join through the South Hams e-bike Club facebook page or call Karl or Andy on 01548 859745 for further information. If you want to join an organised ride and don’t currently have an e-bike you can hire one for free thanks to funding from South Hams District Council (Community Recovery Grant) or check out e-Xplore Devon’s website (www.e-xploredevon.co.uk) to hire an e-bike at any other time.
