Crash on the A38 blocks road, Land Rover crashes through barrier

A Land Rover has left the A38 as police search the area for the driver. 

UPDATE: A dark green Land Rover, which was stolen from Salcombe, has left the A38 at the roundabout after possibly being chased by the police. 

The driver has run into the nearby woods and police are currently searching for him. 

The A38 has now reopened.

The AA traffic updates is saying that the road is blocked "due to accident on A38 Eastbound at B3213 (Ivybridge)", which is "affecting traffic towards Ivybridge."

Social media activity is implying that there may have been a police chase before the incident, a vehicle has ended up over the barrier and officers are searching nearby, although Devon and Cornwall Police have not confirmed this. 

The police helicopter was on scene but has since left.
