Dart RNLI rescues four people from RIB with engine failure
Dart RNLI has rescued four people from a RIB with engine failure at Man Sands.
Dart RNLI were called out at around 10pm on Sunday, 14 August, to a six-meter RIB with engine failure at Man Sands.
A spokesperson for Dart RNLI said: "Four people onboard, thankfully all wearing life jackets.
"After a wet and bumpy journey, the lifeboat arrived on scene. After checking everyone was OK, the crew set up a tow. Since the weather was now worsening, the decision was taken to tow the RIB to Brixham, rather than go against the building wind and waves to get back to Dartmouth.
"The four people rescued were a little damp and cold but now safely back on dry land and collected from Brixham by family.
"The lifeboat then had to make the return journey to Dartmouth in a rough sea state with heavy rain so tricky navigation using charts and radar.
"The crew were back to the station approximately 1.30am for warm showers and a much needed cup of tea!"
