Dartmouth Lower Ferry to introduce new ticketing system
Dartmouth Lower Ferry is introducing a new ticketing system designed to "improve the customer experience and provide a more secure, efficient, and user-friendly service".
The new platform will offer improved account management, enhanced security features, and a streamlined ticket purchasing process for both regular and occasional ferry users.
The new system is set to go live at 7am on Monday, 13 July.
If you do not have an online account, you can still make payment on the day of travel on the ferry. Customers who don’t have an online account but hold ferry saver cards may still continue to use their old cards with the new system.
Benefits of the new system
The new ticketing platform will provide:
- A simpler and more intuitive online experience.
- Enhanced security for customer accounts and payment information.
- Improved account management functionality.
- Faster ticket purchasing and administration processes.
- A platform that supports future service enhancements and digital developments.
Transitioning to the new ticketing system
Any travel card with a negative balance may become invalid from 13 July.
Customers with a negative balance are encouraged to top up their card before this date to maintain uninterrupted use.
Customers who do not clear their negative balance before 13 July may be required to:
1. Purchase a new travel card (£2.00 charge).
2. Add credit to the new card before travelling.
We encourage customers to check their balance and take any necessary action as soon as possible to avoid delays or inconvenience when using the ferry service.
Existing Online Customers - Action Required.
As part of the transition to the new system, all existing online account holders will need to reset their passwords before accessing their accounts for the first time.
The below link will only become live from 13 July. Until this date, your current online account will still be active.
Customers will be able to create a new password by clicking here.
Instructions will be provided onscreen, and customers are encouraged to complete the password reset process before their next journey to ensure continued access to their online accounts.
Some online customer records do not contain all the information required by the new system. Customers whose online accounts have incomplete details will find that they can no longer Top-up their balances online. Therefore, please update your account by 12 July. Customers who do not update their details before 13 July will need to re-register again and link their current cards to their new account.
Changes to Fleet Accounts
As part of the introduction of the new ticketing system, existing Fleet Accounts will be reviewed and moved to one of two account types.
Large Corporate and High-Usage Accounts
Customers with large corporate accounts and high levels of usage will continue to benefit from monthly invoicing arrangements, with minimal changes to the way their accounts are managed.
All Other Fleet Account Customers
All remaining Fleet Account customers will receive an email prior to launch day (13/07/2026) containing a link to create your online account, on or after 13/07/2026.
Once registered, customers will be able to:
- Top up their account online.
- Manage the balance used by all cards linked to the account.
- Set up low-balance and account notifications via email.
- Add, remove and manage cards.
- View account activity and balances online.
