Overnight road closures on the A379 at Brixton will start on the evening of Monday, 3 February, while essential drainage repairs and resurfacing work gets underway.

Site investigations have identified severe damage to the drainage system and the road needs to be excavated to replace pipes where necessary and repair others.

Due to the extent of the work needed, and the width of the road, the road needs to be closed for the safety of the public and site staff while work is carried out.

The drainage improvements and resurfacing scheme will be carried out overnight with the A379 closed between Sungates and The Foxhound Inn from 7pm to 6am each weekday evening.

No work will be undertaken at weekends and the road will be open during the daytime on weekdays and all day on weekends.

Work is weather dependent but it is scheduled to be completed by Saturday, 1 March.

While work is being carried out, people are asked not to park vehicles in the scheme area of the A379 overnight.

Residents within the site area will be able to liaise with site staff at the gates of the scheme to arrange access to their properties, but they may face delays. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

During the overnight closures a signed diversion will be in place via Elburton Road, Haye Road, Hercules Road, Main Street, Deep Lane, A38 to Avonwick, B3372, A3121, A379 and vice versa.

Work will be carried out by Aggregate Industries. For more information, visit Devon County Council's website: Live roadworks information - Roads and transport
