Students in secondary schools in the South Hams and across England will not have to wear face coverings in classrooms from Thursday 20 January.
The Department for Education have stated,
"Pupils won't need to wear face coverings in classrooms in schools and colleges from tomorrow.
This is because the national data shows the prevalence of Covid to be on a downward trajectory. Face coverings will no longer be needed in indoor communal areas from next Thursday, 27 January".
Face coverings will not be legally required in any setting from Thursday 27 January. The government still "recommends" that people wear face masks in enclosed areas, but the decision will be one of personal judgement.
