GP surgery urges vulnerable people due a Covid vaccination to get in touch
Norton Brook Medical Practice is urging residents who are due a Covid vaccination to get in touch as they cannot start the next round of inoculations until they have spoken to everyone.
Norton Brook shared a post on their social media, saying that they had not been able to contact more than 70 Cohort 6 Clinically Vulnerable patients, "despite texts, reminders, phone calls and letters".
A spokesperson for the GP surgery said: "This is particularly in reference to those aged 33-52 (in tier 6 only). We NEED to hear from you as we cannot move onto other cohorts until we do. Please respond to our texts or letters and go online to book your appointment, or decline your appointment.
"If you know of someone in this group, please ask them to book or decline their appointments. Thank you to all your support."
The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) defines clinically vulnerable people as those with:
- chronic respiratory disease, including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis and severe asthma
- chronic heart disease (and vascular disease)
- chronic kidney disease
- chronic liver disease
- chronic neurological disease, including epilepsy
- Down’s syndrome
- severe and profound learning disability
- diabetes
- solid organ, bone marrow and stem cell transplant recipients
- people with specific cancers
- immunosuppression due to disease or treatment
- asplenia and splenic dysfunction
- morbid obesity
- severe mental illness
