Harbour officials warn people not to approach injured seal, saying she is "being monitored"

A seal has been spotted with something wrapped tightly around her neck, but Dartmouth Harbour says she is "well known to both The Seal Project UK and British Divers Marine Life Rescue". 

Reports about the entangled seal, including from broadcaster Monty Halls, have been coming in to Dartmouth Harbour as people spot the seal with what is thought to be fishing line wrapped tightly around her neck.

Dartmouth Harbour has posted on social media warning people to "not approach wild seals", and to "keep your distance from this seal if she is seen resting in the area". 

The social media post says: "We are aware of this adult female seal, she is well known to both @thesealprojectuk and @bdmlr_uk and has been monitored for some considerable time, by us as well as the Seal Project & BDMLR.

"Whilst she is feeding and actively moving around intervention is currently not an option. Disentangling an adult seal is extremely difficult and dangerous to both the seal and the rescuers.
