KATS prepare for Our House - the Madness musical

Kingsbridge Amateur Theatrical Society is preparing to bring Our House, the award-winning musical set to the iconic music of 1980s band, Madness.

KATS’ next musical, Our House, will be coming to the stage in March at Malborough Village Hall. This Olivier Award winning musical, set to the iconic music of Madness tells the story of Joe Casey, who, on the night of his 16th birthday makes a split decision.

Leading lady Amelie, KCC student, and Carey-Ryan Carter, choreographer

This innovative show uses that moment to split the story in two, allowing the audience to experience the two possibilities of what Joe’s life could be. In the same vein as hit movie Sliding Doors, Our House explores the concepts of choice and consequence as Joe navigates two worlds along with his friends, family and the community of Camden.

Debut director, Nate Fox (last seen as Mr Toad in the Wind in the Willows) explains it was the story that first got him interested in Our House, followed by the toe-tapping upbeat music of Madness.

Nate said: “Madness still draws in big audiences as we saw for ourselves in the summer at Plymouth’s Summer Sessions on the Hoe. There was a great atmosphere and people love their music. Madness were a close-knit group of mates growing up in an area where community was key. These themes give the story relevance, whether you are a fan of Madness or not.

"There’s a great buzz in the rehearsal room. It’s a fun place to be. We can’t wait to share the show with you all.”

Tickets are on sale now from Ticket Source or via KATS website www.kats-kingsbridge.co.uk
