Last call of the year for coastguard teams is medical evacuation

The final call out of 2024 for local Coastguard Rescue Teams was a medical emergency from Dartmouth.

Dartmouth Coastguard Team, with back up from Kingsbridge Coastguard Rescue Team, were called at around midday on New Years Eve to an evacuation of an injured walked near Little Dartmouth.

A spokesperson for Kingsbridge Coastguard Rescue Team said: "Arriving on scene Dartmouth CRT had stabilised the casualty and provided casualty care. Due to the steep terrain and tricky position of the casualty the decision was made to set up a rope rescue system to winch the casualty up to safety.

"Working together the teams were able to safely bring the casualty to the safety, and the casualty was taken onward for further treatment. We wish them a speedy recovery."

Remember in a coastal emergency, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard
