The former Dartmouth and Kingswear Community Hospital has been sold
Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust has confirmed the sale of the former Dartmouth and Kingswear Community Hospital.
Chief Executive Joe Teape said: “We are pleased to confirm the sale of the former Dartmouth and Kingswear Community Hospital.
The building, on the embankment overlooking the River Dart, was nearly sold in January 2024, but the preferred bidder fell through.
The reported guide price at a July auction was about £1.5m before it was put up for auction in September.
“The sale completed on Friday, 9 May, and the proceeds have been used to fund the £5.4million Dartmouth Health and Wellbeing Centre, which opened in May 2023, and brings social value to the community by integrating community nurses, therapists, social care workers, Dartmouth Caring and a pharmacy under one roof.
“The sale of the site was made on the open market, in line with the NHS Estate Code, and we are respecting the buyer’s request to not be named.
“We would like to thank Dartmouth Town Council and Charles Darrow property agents for their support during the sale process.”
