Work pauses at Lock’s Hill but developer says it hasn’t pulled out of project
Local people opposed to the development of 32 homes at Lock’s Hill, Kingsbridge, were pleased to see heavy machinery being removed from the site this week, but Blakesley Estates say that the stop is temporary.
John Freeland, Blakesley Estates, said: “I can confirm that Blakelsey Estates HAVE NOT pulled out of the Lock's Hill development. The site is legally consented for the construction of 32 houses.
“We have just paused works on site as South Hams District Council have yet to discharge two remaining planning conditions and to lift a Tree Preservation Order on the site.
“These outstanding issues prevent us from working through the central tree line and accessing the smaller second field.
“As soon as these two matters are resolved, we will recommence works. Rather than leave excavators and labour on site doing nothing, we have moved them to two of our other sites currently under construction.”
South Hams District Council issued a statement, saying: "The council is aware of developments on the site and continues to monitor them closely. As there are on-going legal proceedings involving the developer, it would be inappropriate for the council to comment further at this time."
