New Kingsbridge to Torcross bus service launches this Sunday

A Sunday bus service between Kingsbridge and Torcross will return from Sunday, 30 August, following "calls from the local community for the route to be reinstated".

Devon County Council is funding the service, which previously operated before being suspended after storm damage destroyed the road at Torcross.

The reinstated shuttle service will operate six return journeys every Sunday, serving Kingsbridge, Charleton, Frogmore, Chillington, Carehouse Cross and Torcross.

Councillor Jacqi Hodgson, Devon County Council Cabinet Member for Transportation, said: "We're pleased to be bringing this Sunday service back for local residents and visitors. Reliable public transport is essential for helping people access services, visit family and friends, and enjoy all that this part of South Devon has to offer.

"We know people have been asking for the route to return, and we're delighted to be able to support it."

The timetable will be: 

Councillor Julian Brazil, Devon County Councillor for Kingsbridge, said: "The local community has been very clear that they wanted this service reinstated, so I'm delighted that it is returning. This route provides an important link between Kingsbridge and the villages along the coast, and will make a real difference for people who rely on public transport, particularly on Sundays."

The first service will depart Kingsbridge Bus Station at 9.50am on Sunday, 30 August, with the final return journey arriving back in Kingsbridge at 5.16pm.

The council has also confirmed that the 93T, Slapton to Dartmouth service, that the council launched on a trial basis in June, will continue, following a successful trial period.
