A photographer who specialises in events has relocated to the area and is looking to recreate his success the South Hams.

Matt Bright of Matt Bright Photographer has been in the industry for more than 30 years, starting as a dark room technician for the Independent newspaper and going on to build a wide range of clients from sports teams to festivals.

Matt explained: “My wife and I have relocated from London just five short weeks ago and I love it here. We have moved to Thurlestone, the views are phenomenal and the welcome we have received is amazing.

Talking about the move to the South Hams, Matt said: “Photography is essentially a people-based endeavour. There are amazing views across London, like Hampstead, Greenwich and Primrose Hill, but you share these with your fellow citizens and that is the great shared human experience of living in a city.

“However, it is a new-found luxury to have quiet moments to appreciate nature, the natural world, the night sky, and to be humbled by them all.”

“We have visited the South Hams on holiday and my family has a family home in Dorset that we used to stop off at on the way here, but it has always been an ambition on my wife and I to live by the sea and we wanted to do when we were still able to be active in the community, not just to retire.”

Matt’s experience is mainly in editorial, photographing sports events, music concerts, festivals, corporate events and long lens shots and is keen to build his client list in the area.

He explained: “Recently I’ve been particularly interested in expanding my experience of photographing corporate events and sporting days such as team building and golf days, but I pride myself on having a wide range of skills and the ability to adapt that has been honed by shooting editorial.

“I’m always challenging myself and trying out new things to improve my scope and my portfolio. I have a ‘personal work’ page on my website where I can explore ideas, expand and develop skills in lighting and finding new perspectives and new customers.”
