Salcombe Town Regatta week sees the launch of a brand new event this year – the Salcombe Contemporary Art Fair.

Showcasing the work of over 20 top notch Devon artists and sculptors, the fair will take place at Cliff House on August 4th and 5th.  You won’t need to miss out on time at the beach or regatta fun either since the event will run from 10am until 9pm both days giving everyone a chance to visit.

Make a Date for the Salcombe Contemporary Art Fair, 4th & 5th August.

The original artwork on sale will feature a variety of mediums and styles … and prepare to be captivated by an explosion of vivid colour and technique because whilst many local galleries can lean towards traditional land and seascapes, the Salcombe Contemporary Art Fair aims to bring something fresh and innovative to the market both in concept and content.

“The joy of putting on an art fair is that we will be able to offer stunning artwork at considerably below gallery prices for a strictly limited period because we don’t have the same overheads.  We’ve been intrigued by this idea for some time and there’s absolutely no reason why the concept shouldn’t work just as well on the coast as it has done in larger cities.”

So say the organisers, Jon Woolfenden and Ian Carr.  And they should know since they are both long-established local artists in their own right.  Royal Academy exhibitor Jon adds, “Not only have we been able to find a new platform for our own work, but it’s great to be able to provide the opportunity for other artists to exhibit, too.  We know that buyers will want variety, choice and good value and that’s what we’re going to provide.”

It’s hard not to get caught up in Jon and Ian’s evident enthusiasm for this exciting new project, and given their combined long experience of the art scene, the fair stands every chance of being a huge success.  So, whether you’re local or visiting, and keen to invest in high calibre contemporary artwork at sensible prices, this event is an absolute must.
