Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team helps police find and rescue injured walker

Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team is called by Devon and Cornwall Police to help locate a walker with a "lower leg injury" on Dartmoor National Park. 

DSRT Ashburton were called by police just after midday on Sunday, 10 October, to "assist in locating a walker with a lower leg injury on Dartmoor National Park somewhere north of Ivybridge". 
 
A spokesperson for the DSRT said: "20 team members and three Land Rovers were deployed onto the Moor using a track from Bittaford. Having located the casualty, team members assessed the injury and carried him across rough ground on a mountain rescue stretcher.
 
"In consultation with colleagues at ambulance control we agreed to convey him back to his car so that he can return to a hospital closer to his home address.
 
"We wish the gentleman a speedy recovery."
