KCC celebrates "fantastic achievements" as A-Level results are released

Principal pays tribute to students' "fantastic achievements" during a year of "uncertainty and disruption" as Kingsbridge Community College Sixth Formers receive their results. 

Tina Graham, Principal, released a statement on Thursday saying that the school team were "once again celebrating the achievements of our Sixth Form students".

KCC students yesterday received their A Level and vocational qualification results after another very strange year in the academic world.

Ms Graham said: "Staff, students and families have worked together to ensure the very best of outcomes for every young person.

"It is important that, although this academic year was a full of uncertainty and disruption, we stop and recognise the fantastic achievements of all our students who are finishing their time in compulsory education and the hard work and efforts that have gone into their 14 years at school.

"Earlier this year when the system for this year’s exam results was announced, the staff at KCC worked extremely hard to ensure that the teacher assessment grades for each individual student were fairly determined in each and every subject. Our students were given a fair opportunity, over a series of different pieces of assessment, to demonstrate what they are capable of achieving and they should be exceptionally proud of the grades that they have been able to accomplish under tremendously challenging circumstances.

"Even though this was a new system for all colleagues I have absolute confidence in our staff and in the rigour that underpinned this process at KCC. This year’s grades show that our students have been able to cope admirably with the disruption that the pandemic has caused to their education; they have shown resilience and perseverance in the face of many challenges and we are exceptionally proud of all that they have achieved.

"We will continue to work with students so that they are supported and can achieve their next steps into employment, training or further study."

She added that the "history of high academic performance has been continued at KCC" and named those with the highest grades as: Ruari McColl, Isobel Jager, Maisy Hawkins, Emily Wheeler, Daisy Gaskell-Bird, Ted Slade, Lily Brown, George Alexander and Jake Moses.

She named Sol Thomas, Ethan Cooke, Noah Petersons, Ben Tyne, Elizabeth Golding, Vadim Goss, Oliver Barrett, Ailla Lewis, Daniel Gamble, Madeleine Gautier, Megan Adams and Sadie West as "students who have made exceptional progress" and Tia Bella Wong, Anna Potgieter, Fraser Perkins, Jowan Pegg, Edward Hough, Harrison Jones, Kyle Dickens, Alice Crocombe, Emil Crew and Andrew Green as students who gave "significantly notable performances in the vocational qualifications". 

She added: "There are so many students that we could name individually and our congratulations and admiration go to all of our students who have conducted themselves brilliantly throughout their time with us at KCC."
