South Hams town in list of top ten dog loving towns in Devon
Totnes has been named the seventh biggest dog-loving town, with the average household owning 1.36 dogs.
Totnes has been named as the seventh most “dog-loving” town in Devon, according to research by the Animal and Plant Health Agency.
The top dog owning town in Devon was Holsworthy, where each household owns an average of 2.32 dogs each.
Other towns in the top 10 were Lynton (2.23 dogs per household), South Molton (1.98), Barnstaple (1.97), Exminster (1.65), Okehampton (1.62), Ilfracombe (1.42) and Iddesleigh and Beaworthy (1.31 each).
The Animal and Plant Health Authority, which is part of the Department for the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, carried out the research earlier this year. Part of its remit is to gather data which will shape future government policy.
