The Flavel in Dartmouth is on the hunt for new volunteers as they start to get back to normal after the pandemic.
As the cafe reopens and the staff and trustees start to look to the future, they are looking for support and input from members of the local community.
They are specifically looking for anyone with experience in sales and marketing, publicity, venue management, fund raising, grant applications or accounting, saying “we would love to hear from you”.
The Flavel team also has a lost of “priority projects” that they are looking for volunteers for:
1. Developing their cinema programme. Become part of the Film Committee reviewing upcoming films and recommending for showing. Help to develop special programmes.
2. Assist with technical requirements. Be a back up to the technical manager. Help at live events.
3. Assist the programming manager with the management of the art gallery. Arrange exhibitions, liaise with artists, and contribute to publicity.
4. Assist with database management, marketing surveys, collate reports and draft findings.
5. Assist with the management of our publicity distribution such as the What’s On brochure. Liaise with the distribution team, arrange timetables, and coordinate distribution.
6. Join the press release writing team with a brief to help with any publicity materials.
7. Review all aspects of the running of other venues (in the Southwest) examining areas such as programming and fundraising.
8. Assist in sales activities for significant income streams such as meeting rooms, advertisers. etc. Identifying leads, making enquiries, follow up calls.
9. Join their fundraising team to help with organising fundraising events and donation drives.
10. Join their grant application team to help in a vital area of the Flavel funding. Identify grant giving bodies and complete the application process.
11. Assist in the administration of their accounting systems.
Hannah Roberts, artistic development manager, said: “Some of our volunteer activities can be carried out from home and some will be office based, or a mixture of the two and full training will be given where necessary.
“There is no set amount of time you need to give us so even if you have a couple of hours a week it would still be helpful.
“We are also always on the lookout for volunteers for our day to day running of the Flavel. This could be stewarding our film and live events, running our box office, managing the bar for evening shows, or helping in our newly opened cafe.
“If you can help us and are interested in finding out more about a volunteer project role then please email:
