Find your local VE Day celebrations - celebrating 80 years since the end of WWII
VE Day, 8 May, 1945, marked the end of the Second World War in Europe and the defeat of Hitler and Nazi Germany, 80 years ago.
With 2025 being the 80th anniversary of this historic date, there are events taking place across the South Hams that mark and commemorate this moment.

In Ivybridge, The Watermark and Ivybridge Town Council have planned an evening of swing, jazz, and big band classics as the South Devon Big Band takes the stage at The Watermark, Ivybridge for a special VE Day celebration.
In Kingsbridge, the RBL Club and Kingsbridge Town Council have a series of events planned, including a wreath-laying service at the war memorial and performances from Kingsbridge Amateur Theatrical Society KATS.

In Totnes, Totnes Town Council will mark VE Day by lighting a beacon on Kingsbridge Hill at 9.30pm on 8 May.
In Hope Cove, The Cottage Hotel is hosting a nostalgic Afternoon Tea.
